JOB TITLE:                                       SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

REPORTING TO:                             TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

 

FLI Water is a specialist water and wastewater process technology and mechanical services company within the FLI Group that deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works.   Individual projects vary from small refurbishments to complete turnkey solutions, ranging in value from £100K up to £3M.  With ongoing growth in the sector FLI Water are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical engineering function of the business.  This will entail providing mechanical design engineering solutions and acting as Lead Design Co-ordinator for multi-disciplinary teams made up of Mechanical, Process, Civil and Electrical Engineers in Water Sector projects.

 

FLI Water are based in Kempton, Bedfordshire where both the head office and workshop facility are located. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for the mechanical engineering function of the business, which entails:

  • Production of technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications in compliance with relevant industry standards.
  • Producing well engineered, efficient mechanical design layouts
  • Operating as a design co-ordinator leading/managing a team of multi-disciplinary engineers
  • Ensure all designs meet the required health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Undertaking technical assessments and equipment selection.
  • Providing technical support to other departments
  • Management and development of less experienced mechanical engineers in the business
  • Management of all CAD Designers to ensure the correct execution of all 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with more than 10 years relevant experience and Chartered Engineer Status.
  • Proven track record of leading projects, providing mechanical engineering design and delivering work packages to a client.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation.
  • An excellent communicator and negotiator, with good technical, people management and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial awareness in dealings with clients, proposals and projects
  • UK resident with full UK driving licence.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Municipal and Industrial Wastewater sectors, additional Water sector knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the structural design of steel vessels and structures to current Eurocodes would be beneficial, but not essential.
